ImageWona Sanana (WS) is a Mozambican NGO that promotes active learning and integrated development of children from early childhood to adolescence in school, family, and community settings. 

Wona Sanana works in the areas of early childhood education, primary education, community-based psychosocial support to orphans and vulnerable children, and data collection on the situation of children in families and communities.

 

OBJECTIVES OF WONA SANANA

1. Improve the quality of education through production of teaching materials and training of teachers in child-centered teaching strategies in early childhood education and primary education settings.
 
2. Build institutional capacity of schools, school clusters (ZIPs), and responsible government officials, by preparing them to plan and conduct training and supervision of teachers in the programs of Wona Sanana on early childhood and primary education.

3. Strengthen the capacity of partner organizations (NGOs, CBOs, and the government) to provide psychosocial support and ensure the protection of the rights of orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

4. Empower local communities, by training community development groups to make decisions, plan and carry out simple projects, and engage in advocacy in response to the needs of orphans and vulnerable children.

5. Promote children’s participation in their own development, by helping them build essential healthy life skills, and contribute to improving the life of their community.
